About the artist

Born in 1989 in Liverpool, England, Samantha has always been creative, using the arts to express, heal and transform emotion onto paper using whatever tools she had around her.

Upon first glance, the drawings of Samantha Messias appear to be photographs captured with astounding clarity. However, each one of her works is entirely constructed with pencil and charcoal, with the exception of her “Into the Wild” collection, where a little splash of abstract colour is added to the background. Samantha’s hyper-realistic drawings are as laden with stunning visual dexterity as they are with emotional meaning.

Having endured a traumatic childhood, Samantha turned to art as a healing mechanism. At the age of 5, the only way she knew how to communicate what had happened to her was through drawing it.

After graduating university in 2012, Samantha discovered Hyperrealism and began teaching herself the skills and disciplines needed to produce such remarkable art and has since rendered the world around her in piercing detail.

Focusing predominantly on portraiture, Samantha Messias pushes her subjects to the foreground of the composition, thus inviting the viewer to observe the microscopic clarity that comprises every plane of her drawings.

Exhibited in 2018’s “Life Is but A Dream” exhibition at New York’s renowned Agora Gallery and showcasing her drawings in London and internationally, Samantha continues to work from her studio in Chester City doing what she does best… bringing life to drawings, creating the perfect gift for you to cherish forever and inspiring hope in others with her story of survival along the way.

To build a community where we can serve, help and save lives through the power of art, creativity and personal growth.

My life and the process of creating my drawings have developed through turning something dark into something light. Much of my skill and creativity was developed by using it as an outlet to release, heal and express my emotions from a traumatic childhood. I was adopted at 5 years old and, for a while, the only way I could communicate what happened was to draw it. I didn't know that what I was doing at such a young age was indeed a form of therapy, and one I would continue throughout my life.

I came across Hyperrealism in 2013 and fell in love with the intense detail, skill, patience, and discipline that encapsulated this genre and how photo-realistic the Art appeared. I began to teach myself using the grid method and began to create these incredibly detailed drawings that gave the illusion of a high-resolution photograph.

My ability to be resilient and courageous through life’s challenges is an important skill and one I am incredibly grateful for.

I love inspiring others with my artwork, creating Art for my clients that moves them and their loved ones to tears, and giving hope through my story. It has been a powerful experience and to leave others with a touch of inspiration is a wonderful feeling.
